Oven Baked Beef Stew
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- 2 lbs beef
- salt
- pepper
- butter/oil
- onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 t thyme
- 2 T flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 T ketchup
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 stalks celery chopped
- 1/4 red wine
- carrots
- potatoes
Pat beef dry, heat oil, brown beef. Reduce heat, add butter, onion, garlic, celery, thyme, salt and pepper.
Cook until tender. Add flour and cook for a minute. Then add broth,red wine, ketchup and bay leaves.
Put beef in the oven for an hr, along with vegetable mixture.
After an hr, add veggies and cook for another hour.
